I was looking back over all the films that have been released in 2013 so far and I noticed a trend……they all suck! Not only have they not done particularly well at the box office but they just have been bad movies. I understand that this usually is the time of year that the garbage movies come out but this seems to be worse than usual. So today I wanted to do a side by side comparison of the first month and a half of this year and last year.

Summary-
So what do we make from all of that information. Well here are a few key facts, so far there has only been one movie from 2013 that has grossed over 100 mill worldwide compared to 10 in 2012. Critically they are not doing well either. So far there have been 2 Rotten Tomatoes Certified Fresh films and one regular fresh film compared to 4 Certified Fresh and 2 fresh last year. So just looking at the raw numbers it has been a pretty bad start of the year. For me personally there has not been one movie that I have seen this year that I thought was very good (Bullet to the Head was enjoyable but a bad movie). Last year at this point there were 3 movies that where right up with some of my favorite for the whole year (The Grey, Chronicle and Haywire). Hopefully this is not a trend that continues or else it is going to be a long year. Thanks for reading and lookout for your weekly Blu-ray preview sometime tomorrow.
